"The Odd Couple"
The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the favorites to come out of the Western Conference and play for the NBA title this year. Although, there seems to be some problems between the teams superstars' Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, its been said that Westbrook takes to many shot attempts. What i dont understand is why everyone is mad because Russ takes shots, please don't forget Durant led the league in scoring the past two seasons. So one can see that he is definetly getting his, Westbrook is a young exciting point guard with tremendous athletic ability, next to Derrick Rose i don't know a more athletic point guard. The bickering started last year and has carried over into this season, though its been downplayed by Durant everyone knows he has issues with Russ. Lets not be oblivious to the obvious Westrbrook averaged 9.0 assist per game last year and 2.0 steals per game, so lets stop with the ballhog talk or the he takes too many shots talk. Again, he is still 23 years old with tremendous upside to him and the real question is if Westbrook doesn't score who will?? Eric Maynor?? Serge Ibaka?? Kendrick Perkins?? Thabo?? who?? the only other scoring option they have is James Harden. Last season Harden came off the bench and Thabo Sefolosha started and we all know he is a defensive stopper, but not a consistent scoring option. So back to the drawing board who else is going to score the ball? Maybe its not so bad that Westbrook takes shots they have been one of the best teams in the league the last 3 years. Yes Kevin Durant is an all-star, but everyone had some type of help, what makes you think a 23 year old athletic point guard won't take shots? Until i see another scoring option im all for Westrbrook getting buckets. Derrick Rose is a shoot first point guard and he won the MVP last year go figure and he had more scorers around him than Durant does. Hopefully these two young talented superstars can co- exist and take OKC to that championship level together. Lets see how the rest of the season plays out.
